Hermosa Historic Driving Tour

4th Annual Historic Hermosa Driving Tour -May 20, 2017
The La Plata County Historic Preservation Review Commission is sponsoring this free event to celebration Archaeology
and Historic Preservation Month in Colorado.
The tour begins at 8 a.m with an orientation talk on the Animas Valley prehistory and history at the Animas Museum. Coffee and homemade pastries will be available for purchase. Following the talk, the tour will head to several stops in Hermosa for brief talks by historians. The tour morning stops include the Hermosa railroad station and water tank, the Buchanan House with orchards, and the Thomas Anderson Kerr House.
Lunch will be available for purchase at the Animas Valley Grange. Lunch includes a buffet of local and homemade foods for $ 9.00. At lunch, Grangers Ruth and Ernie Shock will speak about the history of the Animas Valley Grange founded in 1911.
After lunch, the tour will visit the Hermosa Cemetery and Honeyville and learn about beekeeping in the Hermosa area.
