Fall & Spring - SJMA offers spring and fall school field trips to various sites on the San Juan National Forest and BLM Tres Rios area. Students learn a range of outdoors, environmental and/or conservation topics through interactive activities. Topics may include: habitats, adaptations, evidence animals leave behind, birds, trees, senses, and many more! Stations are taught by volunteers or employees from the Forest Service, BLM, Fort Lewis College and/or the general public. Due to budget cuts, we have had to drastically reduce the amount of field trips we are able to offer. Contact us to see if we can work something out.
Winter - Winter Discovery Walks - Winter is a beautiful time to re-discover the outdoors. Join SJMA for snowshoeing (conditions permitting), examination of tracks, snowflakes, and our wintry world! Programs can take place at your school, for your organization or in the forest.
Service Learning Projects - SJMA sometimes has service learning projects for students, including tree planting in the National Forest. Contact us if you're interested in a project for your students, or have a project that needs to be completed.
SJMA field trips are typically for Kindergarten to Fifth grade, but contact us if you have older or younger students to see if we can accommodate your group.
