Christmas Tree Train Training
November 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
We are looking for 4-6 volunteers each day to ride the train, be friendly greeters to the visitors, offer general assistance, guidance and direction as well as sell Xmas Tree cutting permits. The volunteer will facilitate the selection of a tree and help “guide” the individual and/or family through the process of cutting down their own tree.
There will be plenty of opportunities to educate the visitor about our surrounding public land as well as a multitude of topics related to conservation education and thinning of our forest.
We have already scoped the area of the Cascade Wye and there is a plethora of White Fir available and in need of thinning.
The train personnel will load and unload the trees into a boxcar for return to Durango.
VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN A MANDATORY TRAINING SESSION ON November 14, 2017 FROM 6:00 – 7:30 PM AT THE TRAIN MUSEUM. THE TRAIN IS HOSTING THE MEETING AND WILL BE PROVIDING PIZZA AND SODA. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS REQUIRMENT.
Please help us AND get in the Christmas spirit by volunteering your time on any one or more of the days indicated. The volunteer spots fill up quickly so don’t delay!! The train provides each volunteer with a free ticket but unfortunately, you will not be able to cut down your own tree. Time is limited and we need our volunteers to assist paid ticket holders. For more information and to schedule your slot, please contact Kathe Hayes: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you in advance for supporting this fun program.
