Join SJMA and educators from Canyon of the Ancients National Monument for a hike through the moon-lit Sand Canyon while learning about the moon impacts wildlife and humans alike. From sunset to moonrise, hikers will visit several of the ruins and discover the wildlife that still makes this special place home. What a treat in a day-use only area! Hike is moderate, up to 5 miles.
When: July 12, 2022 at 7:00pm
Where: Sand Canyon and Rock Creek Trailhead (the second parking lot coming from Cortez)
What to Bring: Wear walking shoes and clothing layers suitable for evening weather, bring a backpack with your water, snacks, camera, and binoculars. Bring hiking poles if you like using them. Please note, there are no restrooms in Sand Canyon. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times.
Cost: Free, but a $10 donation is greatly appreciated!
