Calling all educators! Join Canyon of the Ancients National Monument and SJMA staff for a 3 day Project Archaeology training in Cortez. Project Archaeology uses archaeological inquiry to foster understanding of past and present cultures; improve social studies and science education; and enhance citizenship education to help preserve our archaeological legacy. Developed in 1990 to combat the vandalism and looting of archaeological sites, this BLM funded program trains teachers and provides in-depth curriculum. Participate in a dozen activities to share with your students, explore the Lowry Pueblo with the Canyon of the Ancients staff archaeologist, and learn from a Ute Mountain Ute tribal member.
