Training: Volunteer Naturalist

Learn to lead a nature walk with SJMA this summer!

Join SJMA in co-leading an interpretive nature walk on any topic that interests you! Our nature walks typically cover geology, botany, wildlife, ecology, history, and more. This program is incredible for a couple reasons – it is run entirely by volunteers and all nature walks are free to the public. Without volunteers, this program simply wouldn’t exist!

Training is required for all new volunteer naturalists. This training will cover everything you need to know, including logistics of the program and a practice nature walk at Haviland Lake.

Nature walks take place every Friday morning at a couple awesome locations – Haviland Lake, Andrews Lake, and Sand Canyon. All volunteers will arrive early to plan with the group and greet participants as they arrive.
