SUMMARY:Full Moon Hike\, CANM
DESCRIPTION:Join SJMA and educators from Canyons of the Ancients National Monument for a special hike through the moonlit Sand Canyon while learning about how the moon impacts wildlife and humans alike. This trail is usually closed after sunset\, so this is a rare chance to see it under a different light. From sunset to moonrise\, hikers will visit several ancient pueblos and discover the wildlife that calls this special place home. \nThe hike is moderate\, 1-2 miles. Wear walking shoes and clothing layers suitable for the evening weather\, bring a backpack with your water\, snacks\, camera\, and binoculars. Bring hiking poles if you like using them. Don’t forget your headlamp or flashlight! \nWhen: July 28\, 2026 from 7pm – 10pm \nWhere: Sand Canyon and Rock Creek Trailhead (the second parking lot coming from Cortez) \nCost: Free\, but a donation is greatly appreciated! \nRegistration is full.
