SUMMARY:Wilderness 101\, Family Fun
DESCRIPTION:Curious about minimalist camping or learning to thrive outdoors with limited gear? This program\, in collaboration with Montrose Recreation District\, is designed for adults and families ready to deepen their wilderness knowledge and self-reliance. Participants learn how to travel comfortably with just a small pack\, tarp\, and the Ten Essentials. Instruction includes shelter construction\, knots and rigging\, water treatment\, backcountry safety\, and wilderness stewardship. \nThe course includes two Wednesday evening preparatory sessions (July 29th and August 5th)\, culminating in a two-day\, one-night practical campout (August 8-9) where skills are put into action. \nWho: Adults and Families \nWhen: Pre-trip sessions on July 29 and August 5 from 5-8 pm; Two-day\, overnight trip on August 8-9\, 2026 \nWhere: Pre-trip session in Montrose; Campout location is TBD \nLearn More & Register \nQuestions? Contact John Malloy at jmalloy@sjma.org
