MK Thompson

MK Gunn staff

Forest Ambassador

MK has been with SJMA since 2009.  She joined the SJMA staff after the amazing training and experience she received teaching outdoor education and leading hikes at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park.  She is also a graduate of Fort Lewis College.  Since joining up with SJMA, she has contributed to many new programs including backpacking trips and the Forest to Faucets teacher workshops.  She has also been part of the Durango VIS team but is now one of the San Juan Wilderness Stewardship crew members and Education Specialist.

MK is a long-time Colorado resident but is originally from upstate NY near the Adirondacks.  She has always loved being out in nature.  When not working for SJMA or at her other job, she enjoys a variety of outdoor activities.  These include (but are not limited to) backpacking, mountain biking, pack rafting, skiing and just plain wandering around in the woods.
