Snow Caves and Improvised Shelters

Come play in the snow while learning or honing your winter survival skills in a safe environment. We’ll be learning how to build snow caves and other improvised shelters, then warming up with some hot cocoa. Recommended for ages 8-88, all skill levels.

WHERE

Lobo Overlook parking area on Wolf Creek Pass

DETAILS

  • Wear warm clothes and boots to spend the afternoon in the snow.
  • Bring lunch, plenty of water.
  • Bring snowshoes or cross-country skis if you have them.  If you don’t, SJMA can provide snowshoes for your use (when registering make sure to include your shoe size, height and weight).
  • If you have an avy shovel (or any compact shovel), bring that too!
