Colorado-Hunters must wear at least 500 square inches of solid blaze orange or pink material as an outer garment above the waist. This must include a hat or head covering while hunting deer, elk or antelope during any firearm seasons. Orange camouflage does not count toward this requirement and bow hunters are not required to wear blaze colors during archery-only seasons.mile (1:126,720)

All upland and big game hunters are strongly encourage to wear blaze orange. 244 square inches of blaze orange are required when hunting on White Sands Missile Range, while a blaze orange hat and hunting vest are required on Fort Bliss/McGregor military reservations.

In areas where a centerfire rifle hunt is in progress, hunters are required to wear a minimum of 400 square inches of blaze orange above the waistline. Solid blaze orange is preferred, but camouflage orange is allowed. Exceptions: hunters pursuing bighorn sheep, bison, moose, or mountain goats where a statewide conservation permit or statewide sportsman’s permit is in possession–unless a centerfire rifle hunt is simultaneously in progress in that area.
