Elizabeth Reid has been the San Juan Mountains Association Visitor Services employee at the Pagosa Ranger District since August of 2007. Elizabeth wears many hats by representing three agencies. Her position is a partnership between the San Juan National Forest, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and the San Juan Mountains Association. Not only does Elizabeth have the responsibility of keeping the Pagosa SJMA Bookstore stocked and reconciling the bookstore collections, she provides information on a wide-variety of questions regarding the multiple uses of National Forest System lands – from recreation to timber. In addition, she also performs mandatory hunting checks on bears, verifies hundreds of hunter safety cards and answers a multitude of hunting-related questions on behalf of the State of Colorado. Elizabeth has a wealth of knowledge and is a vital member of the front desk team that provides top-notch customer service.
Elizabeth has lived in Southwestern Colorado for most of her life which provides her a vast store of first-hand knowledge about the area. Elizabeth graduated from Fort Lewis College with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She is married to Mike Reid, who is a District Wildlife Officer for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. They have two sons, Travis and Brandon who are grown. She has a passion for education and was a teacher while her children were in school. Now, she uses her teaching skills to instill a land ethic to forest visitors.
