Anson Brown
Education Specialist
Originally from St. Louis, MO, Anson grew up exploring the rivers and hills of the Ozarks in his home state, as well as spending summers in the Tetons in northwestern Wyoming. This led to a lifelong obsession with the outdoors as well as a passion for conservation and environmental education. Anson has since worked for a nonprofit in Canada, a summer camp in Wyoming, and currently also works as a ski instructor at Purgatory Resort, where he enjoys leading the local youth programs and connecting with the community. After graduating from Colorado College with a degree in environmental studies, Anson found SJMA as a way to connect his interest in conservation with teaching children.
In his free time, Anson can be found skiing or hiking in the San Juans, mountain biking on the trails in town, paddling the Animas River, or DJing at the local bars.
