If you are interested in volunteering your time, we have lots of opportunities to do so, from promoting leave-no-trace-principles to hands-on stewardship to cultural documentation.
DID YOU KNOW?
At SJMA, we do a lot! Here are a couple of facts you may not know about us...
SJMA organizes stewardship programs to help protect Southwest Colorado’s public lands. For decades, our volunteers have been the heart of our programs conducting visitor outreach to encourage how to recreate responsibly on these beautiful and sensitive lands. In addition to visitor outreach, our skilled seasonal workers increase the presence of staff on public lands, conduct trail work and monitor wilderness characteristics.
SJMA is inspiring and empowering the next generation of conservationists in Southwest Colorado through youth camps, teacher trainings, and student field trips to local forests and watersheds. In addition, our education staff and passionate volunteers offer beautiful interpretive hikes and special events for people of all ages to learn more about the San Juan Mountains.
