Matt Janowiak

Matt knew Southwest Colorado would be his home back in 1997 when he rode through the area on a motorcycle trip. He and Madeleine, his wife, moved here in 1999 and it has been home ever since.

Matt moved here to begin a career in federal land management, first as a hydrogeologist then in a management role. In 2009 he was appointed to the San Juan National Forest Columbine District Ranger/Field Manager position. Now that Matt is retired from his San Juan National Forest Service job, he is happy to continue working with the team at SJMA through volunteer projects and as a member of the SJMA board.

Matt loves the public lands and is grateful to see so many others in the San Juan region sharing that love for the lands.
