Alex Miller

Visitor Information Specialist / Montrose Public Land Center

Alex is new to southwest Colorado, but is no stranger to the mountains and red rock canyons across the border in Utah. Growing up in Maine, Alex moved west in 2014 and began working seasonally in Park City, UT. In his downtime during shoulder seasons, he began exploring public lands and learning about land use issues through environmental news outlets and history books. These experiences convinced him to pursue a Masters degree in history at Colorado State University, where he specialized in recreation and tourism history, environmental history, and anything involving how humans interact with their environments. Outside of work, you can find him rafting or fishing on area rivers, skiing or backpacking in the mountains, and tearing up his hands climbing desert sandstone.
