The Nature of Ironton Hike

Join SJMA in a hiking/snowshoeing tour of the Corkscrew Gulch area to explore the nearby wetlands and forest communities in search of animal tracks and signs to decipher the mysterious stories of animal survival in winter. We will share some of the special stories of the animals that survive and thrive in winter amidst a snowy/ice landscape.

DETAILS

  • Please bring your own snowshoes. If you need a pair, we will provide them for your use (when registering make sure to include your shoe size, height and weight).
  • Participants must be prepared to hike up to 2 miles in the snow at ~9,800 ft of elevation.
  • Wear warm clothes and boots to spend the afternoon in the snow.
  • Bring lots of water and a sack lunch and/or plenty of snacks.
