Gavin Tweedie

Board Member, At Large

Gavin Tweedie brings a passion for the outdoors to the San Juan Mountain Association. With an engineering degree and a strong background in financial management, budget oversight, and sales, Gavin has successfully contributed his expertise to multiple boards, driving strategic initiatives and fostering organizational growth.

Originally from Newfoundland, Canada, Gavin grew up immersed in the remote, rugged beauty of the wilderness, where he cultivated a love for hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and fishing. These early experiences instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for nature and the value of outdoor recreation.

Now a devoted explorer of the San Juan Mountains, Gavin spends his free time backpacking and hiking the region’s breathtaking landscapes. He has volunteered on multiple outreach and stewardship programs with SJMA and Mountain Studies Institute. His deep commitment to preserving these natural treasures and his professional acumen has led him to the SJMA Board of Directors where he hopes to contribute to the SJMA’s mission to protect and enjoy the area’s unique environment.
