Kelly Miller

Operations Manager

Kelly Miller joins SJMA as Operations Manager, bringing a background in nonprofit operations, finance, and community leadership. She previously served in senior operational roles with a U.S.-based nonprofit supporting a growing university in Zambia, where she helped build the financial systems, reporting structures, and operational foundation needed to support an expanding international program—connecting teams, resources, and priorities across continents.

Based in Durango, Kelly has spent the past several years working with local organizations and community networks, supporting mission-driven work and strengthening the systems that help those efforts take root and grow.

Her connection to the natural world is both personal and ongoing. An avid birder, Kelly is drawn to the rhythms of migration and the ways landscapes, wildlife, and human communities intersect. Time spent along the Animas River and throughout the San Juan Mountains has deepened her sense of place and her appreciation for the role public lands play in both individual experience and collective stewardship.

Outside of work, you can often find her exploring the region with binoculars in hand, following birds across seasons and landscapes.
