Colorado Public Lands Day Clean Up, NW Dolores

Celebrate Colorado Public Lands Day by making our public lands cleaner and more beautiful! We will focus on the Boggy Draw’s dispersed camping area, northwest of Dolores, CO.  We have a variety of tasks, guaranteeing a good-feeling at the end  – trail maintenance and mulching, invasive weed removal, litter pick-up, and landscaping. Families are strongly encouraged to join!

When: May 16, 2026, 10 am to 2 pm

Where: The hairpin turn on FR 526 @ Bean Canyon Rd. Click here for Google Maps (coordinates: 37.52822, -108.46290)

Details:

  • Kids are welcome
  • Lunch, snacks, and beverages included! Sandwiches provided by Dolores Food Market.
  • Vanpool Options: If you would like to carpool from Dolores or Durango, please contact Andy Hawk at ahawk@sjma.org. Van leaves from Durang from San Juan National Forest Headquarters (15 Burnett Dr) at 8:30am. Van leaves from Dolores Public Land Office (29211 Highway 184) at 9:30am.

  • Best fire ring naturalization (must take before/after photos)

What to wear: Please wear close-toed shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. If you can, bring your own eye protection and work gloves. SJMA will have eye pro and work gloves to borrow.

Do you have a truck? We need 2-3 trucks. Please let us  know if you can bring your truck for hauling trash!
