MK Thompson

Volunteer Coordinator

MK has been with SJMA since 2009, contributing her extensive skill set to every SJMA team – Visitor Information Services (Specialist), Stewardship (Forest Ambassador & Wilderness Crew), and Education (homeschool, field trip programs and more). Before joining SJMA, she got her degree from Fort Lewis College and gained experience by teaching outdoor education and leading hikes at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park.

MK is a long-time Colorado resident but is originally from upstate NY near the Adirondacks. She has always loved being out in nature. When not working for SJMA, she enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and writing about her misadventures. (She is the author of The Art of Misadventure Volumes I and II.)
