Montezuma County Summer Camps
SJMA Montezuma County summer camps are for the nature-loving kids of all ages! These youth summer camps are week-long camps where kids spend time learning about the natural world and exploring our National Forest trails. Younger kids may spend their day catching crawdads, building forts, hiking, or river tromping. The Middle/High School campers will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded friends, explore the rugged terrain of the San Juan Mountains on trails and along waterways, and spend a night camping in the mountains.
If your 12-17 yr old is interested in gaining outdoor education experience while playing outside and connecting kids to the outdoors, check out SJMA’s free Counselor-in-Training Program.
Montezuma Junior Naturalist Field Camps: Rising 1st – 6th Graders
Living Off the Land
How do plants, animals, and people survive in the wild? This week, we’ll dive into the skills and knowledge needed to live off the land! From foraging for edible plants to tracking animals and building shelters, we’ll explore what nature provides and how to use it responsibly. We’ll also look at how Ancestral Puebloan people thrived in this landscape for thousands of years. Through hands-on activities, games, and nature exploration, campers will build confidence, curiosity, and a deep connection to the natural world.
Keep in mind that this camp is free to ALL Montezuma County residents thanks to Montezuma Inspire Coalition and GOCO!
