Morgan Frederick
North Region Program Assistant
Morgan grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors, which eventually led her to a career in education and environmental connection. She graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver and is a licensed K–6 teacher with over 18 years of experience. Throughout her career, Morgan has created hands-on, engaging learning environments that help children build curiosity, confidence, and a sense of belonging in the natural world.
Her passion for outdoor education has taken many forms—from working in schools to leading nature-based experiences that encourage mindfulness, exploration, and self-discovery. Morgan is especially interested in helping children develop a meaningful connection to nature as a foundation for well-being and lifelong learning.
Morgan first fell in love with the San Juan Mountains while living in Durango, and that connection ultimately drew her back to the region. Now living in Ridgway, she is excited to support the growth of SJMA’s North Region and inspire a deeper sense of wonder and stewardship for this special place.
When not working, Morgan enjoys spending time with her wife and her dog, Pondo—often exploring trails, traveling, dancing at music festivals, and finding new ways to integrate mindfulness and nature into everyday life.
