SJMA and retired Wilderness Ranger Anne Dal Vera are hosting a crosscut saw training as a celebration of Colorado Public Lands Day! We will be training sawyers who can assist with the effort to keep trails clear and accessible throughout our wilderness area.
The course has 3 components:
- 8-hour online course with test (Complete prior to May 15th)
- 3-hour session in classroom via ZOOM to teach saw care and recent new information (May 15th)
- 8-hour field session, in which students use the saws to cut out trees on the ground (bucking) and move the cut sections. The trees may be in piles or single trees. Students are evaluated, and recommendations are made to FS line officers for certification. DUE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING RESTRICTIONS, WE WILL DELAY THE FIELD SESSION UNTIL RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED.
