Tom Huffaker
Board Member, Treasurer
Tom Huffaker is a retired diplomat with substantial non-profit board experience. He worked for the U.S. State Department for 24 years, focused primarily on economic, energy and environmental issues. Prior non-profit board experience includes the Anglo-American School of Moscow and the Alberta chapter of Nature Conservancy Canada. He grew up in northern California spending as much time as possible in the Sierras.
Since moving to Durango a few years ago, Tom’s devotion has shifted to our beloved San Juan Mountains. He and his wife, Claire, have lived in Durango for several years and, like most, revel in the extraordinary outdoor life on offer. He is an avid hiker, backpacker and peak-bagger as well as a devoted skier, fly fisher and rafter/kayaker. He volunteers with the Professional Associates of Fort Lewis College and the San Juan Mountains Association. Tom and Claire have two grown children: a daughter in Palo Alto and a son in Boston.
