NNormal Stewardship Project

July 13, 2022 @ 7:30 am - 12:30 pm

Join team NNormal and Kilian Jornet for a trail work day! Kilian Jornet, Dakota Jones, and Kilian’s newly-announced brand NNormal will be performing trail work along the South Mineral creek road on Wednesday morning under the supervision of the San Juan Mountains Association. The first 20 people to sign up can join us to help improve camping and ecological conditions along this critical water source.

Project Goals: South Mineral Creek is the most popular camping area in the Silverton zone, and in recent years visitation has ballooned. This has led to a dramatic increase in human waste, resource degradation, illegal campfires, and in 2020 a human sparked wildfire that burned the area near Ice Lakes Trail and Clear Lake Road.

By removing and rehabilitating the massive proliferation of illegal campfire rings, we can not only remove trash that degrades the landscape, but also decrease the likelihood of illegal campfires. In addition, we can use found materials to rehabilitate campsites that are on the stream corridor, which is not only illegal, but also causes harmful impacts to water quality.

When: July 13, 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Where: Kendall Campground, South Mineral Road (FR 585)

Details: LONG PANTS, CLOSED-TOED SHOES, AND EYE PROTECTION (sunnies), ARE REQUIRED. Lunch will be provided by NNormal.
